These are the 35 names from the Stone Memorial and porch Triptych in St James, which the volunteers are concentrating their investigation for the Memorial Book

There are 18 other men whose records show a Winscombe connection, indeed two are buried in St James’ Churchyard, who are not remembered on the formal memorials.

Represented are :
 All three armed services and the Merchant Marine.
A broad spread of enlisted, NCO and Officer ranks;
 Fighting men and specialists; regulars and conscripts;
 Men who died in battle and men who died of illness at home.
 A man who served for more than thirty years and a man who died after being in service for just 17 days.

There are two brothers and two cousins,
2 Military Crosses and a Distinguished Flying Cross

Of the 33 men we have details for, only 17 - just over half - have known graves
