There are 18 other men whose records show a Winscombe connection, indeed two are buried in St James’ Churchyard, who are not remembered on the formal memorials. for their details see “Other Men of the Parish”.
Represented are : All three armed services and the Merchant Marine. A broad spread of enlisted, NCO and Officer ranks; Fighting men and specialists; regulars and conscripts; Men who died in battle and men who died of illness at home. A man who served for more than thirty years and a man who died after being in service for just 17 days.
